World Day for Audiovisual Heritage 2011

The Coordinating Council of AV Archives Association (CCAAA) encourages all to join in the campaign for the need to safeguard man's AV heritage. The theme for this year's celebration of the World Day for Audiovisual Heritage 2011 is "Audivisual Heritage: See, Hear, and Learn."

In 2005, the UNESCO General Assembly approved October 27 as the World Day for AV Heritage to raise awareness of the importance of AV documents as integral part of national identities and draw attention to the urgent need to protect them. Hands-on Training on Archives and Records Management

The Rizal Library of Ateneo de Manila University will conduct a hands-on training on Archives and Record Management on November 3-4, 2011 from 8am-5pm.

The aims of the hands-on training are:

1. Learn through experience the differences and similarities of archives and records management;

2. Learn basic preservation measures and reformatting options;

3. Acquire knowledge in selection, retention, and disposition of archival materials; and

4. Apply both trends and standard in archival and records management in their own organization.

The PhP 2,000.00 training fee include kit, certificate and food for two days. Only 20 participants will be accepted on a first come, first serve basis.

Mendiola Consortium Seminar-Workshop

The Mendiola Consortium - Committee on Multimedia will conduct a seminar-workshop on "Digital Video Editing" on October 21, 2011 from 8am-5pm at La Consolacion College Manila.

The registration fee is PhP 500.00 per participant and will include seminar kit and handouts, certificates (attendance & participation), and meals ( 2 snacks & lunch). Registration starts at 7:30am.

The objectives of the seminar-workshop are:

- Learn techniques in video conversion from analog to digital;
- Learn basic visual and focusing tips;
- Apply proper techniques in video editing; and
- Create non-commercialized instructional materials

IMC members / Audio Visual staff or any interested participants are welcome to attend the seminar-workshop. Participants are requested to bring sample video for editing during the workshop.
