July is Nutrition Month

The 38th Nutrition Month celebration will focus on vegetables with the theme "Pagkain ng Gulay Ugaliin, Araw-araw Itong Ihain"

The objectives of this year's celebration are to:

a) increase vegetable consumption as part of a healthy diet to address micronutrient deficiencies and non-communicable diseases; 
b) promote vegetable gardening as a source of additional food and income; and 
c) increase demand for vegetables to help local vegetable farmers.

2012 Buwan ng Wika


Ang Paksang Diwa ng 2012 Buwan ng Wika pagdiriwang ay:

Tatag ng Wikang Filipino, Lakas ng Pagka-Pilipino

Ngayong 2012, minamarkahan ang ika-75 taong pagkakaproklama sa Tagalog bilang batayang wika ng wikang pambansa (Kautusang Tagapagpaganap Blg. 134, s. 1937) noong 1937. Sa loob ng 75 taon, kaakibat ng pambansang kaunlaran ang pagbabagong-bihis ng wikang pambansa mulang Tagalog-Pilipino-Filipino kung kaya’t ito ang tampok na tema sa pagdiriwang ng Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa sa taong ito.
Tuwing Agosto, ipinagdiriwang sa Pilipinas ang Buwan ng Wikang Pambansa sang-ayon sa tagubilin ng Proklamasyon Blg. 1041, s. 1997 na iniatas ng Dating Pangulong Fidel V. Ramos. Sa nasabing proklamasyon, kinikilala ang kahalagahan ng isang katutubong wika bilang mahalagang kasangkapan sa komunikasyon, unawaan, kaisahan, at pambansang kaunlaran.

2012 PLAI-STRLC National Conference

Greetings of peace!

The Philippine Librarians Association Inc. - Southern Tagalog Region Librarians Council (PLAI-STRLC) cordially invites you to the National Conference on August 13 – 15, 2012 at Tagaytay International Convention Center, Aguinaldo Highway, Tagaytay City.

This year’s national conference theme is “Revisiting Libraries’ Collection:  Challenges and Opportunities” The conference aims to provide the significance of collection management as we face the new era of challenges and opportunities in librarianship.  It will help the participants in assessing and analyzing their collection in order for them to identify their libraries’ strengths and weaknesses.   It will also provide an avenue to impart the professional updates on current issues and concerns on the development of library collection and develop plans to address these issuesThe target participants of this conference are registered librarians, library staff, information professionals and teacher-librarians from the Southern Tagalog Region and other regions throughout the country.

The conference fees are as follows: Live-in: PhP 4,800.00 (to include accommodation, with breakfast/dinner, in addition to seminar meals).  Early Birds : Php 4,500.00 when reservation is made on or before June 30th.  The accommodation is a quadruple sharing.  Live-out: PhP 4,100.00.   Accompanying person: PhP3,800.00.   Reservation is needed and room accommodation will be on a “First come first served” basis.   A deposit of the PhP 1,000.00 or 50% registration fee is required for the reservation. A confirmation from the organizer will be sent via email to validate your slot or thru respective provincial chapter presidents.
