Deadline for Submission of research papers for 2019 PRJ is extended to OCTOBER 15, 2019.

The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. (PAARL) is very happy to announce the call for research papers for its 2019 PAARL Research Journal (PRJ).The special theme for this issue, which is in line with the theme of PAARL’s 2019 National Summer Conference in Iloilo City, is: “Repositioning Libraries in Big Data Era: New Methods, Services, and Opportunities”.

This thematic issue aims to gather research papers about big data and how it may impact various facets of library operations and how it could be leveraged to propose new and innovative services, collections, and facilities by exploring new opportunities and repositioning their libraries through proper planning utilizing various data analytic techniques.

TOPICS OF INTEREST

Research papers to be submitted must be in line with the theme and should fall under one or more of the following subject areas or topics:

Theme 1: Roles of Academic/Research Libraries

•The role of libraries in data management and analysis

•The impact of big data on library management

•Libraries, archives and big data

Theme 2: Big Data

•Curation, access and preservation of digital data

•Storage, processing, use and sharing of library data

•Metadata and data documentation

•Digital and open data

•Data in scholarly communication

Theme 3: Technology, Policy and Innovation

•Tools and applications used in library data analysis

•Tools and resources used to build data services program

•Data policy, licensing and privacy in libraries

Theme 4: Users and Library Services

•Understanding user behavior through library data

•Development of new services and programs based on library data analysis

•Creative library programs to teach digital literacy and data literacy

•Digital inclusion and library inclusiveness

•Emerging and innovative library services and spaces

Theme 5: Organization, Skills and Leadership

•Training and staffing library data services

•New competencies related to data services

•Building creative partnerships to reposition libraries
