The inaugural issue of two electronic formats only and open access journal dedicated to information literacy (IL) have been published one after the other.
The first journal, the Journal of Information Literacy (JIL) ISSN 1750-5968 " is an international, peer-reviewed journal that investigates any topic related to the practical, technological or philosophical aspect of information literacy (IL)". The editorial board also seeks IL to "extend its theoretical interpretation and practice use beyond the educational arena and across national frontiers".
The other one, Communications in Information Literacy (CIL) ISSN 1933-5954 "is an independent, professional, refereed electronic journal dedicated to advancing knowledge, theory and research in the area of information literacy. The journal is committed to the principles of information literacy as set forth by the Association of College and Research Libraries".
The table of contents of JIL inaugural issue is accessible only in pdf while CIL is accessible both in html and pdf. An added feature of the CIL inaugural issue is an audio file (mp3) of the interview aside from its edited transcript in html or pdf.
