In order to set a common direction for all the projects supported by NCCA, the Commission has developed themes for each year, anchored on the United Nations Millennium Development Goals. Considering the power of the arts to significantly contribute in the realization of the UN MDGs, the following themes were developed:
2008 : Arts and Culture in Public Spaces focus on Values Education (Good Governance and Good Citizenship)
2009 : Arts and Culture for Sustainable Development (Environmental Sustainability, Gender Sensitivity, Health Education, Cultural Diversity, Creative Industry, Eco-tourism)
2010 : Global Partnership Through Arts and Culture
