PAARL's Japan Endless Discovery Library Tour
The Philippine Association of Academic/Research Librarians, Inc. is pleased to invite you to its 4-day international library benchmarking program in Tokyo, Japan dubbed as “PAARL's Japan Endless Discovery Library Tour” to be held on 21-24 October 2015.
On its sixth year of benchmarking libraries within Southeast Asia and the Asia-Pacific region, PAARL has chosen the “Land of the Rising Sun”, as one of the most developed countries in the world for its industries and cutting edge technology. Japan is at the same time a treasury of traditional cultures, architecture, arts and performing arts with World Heritage sites.
The tour specifically aims to (1) identify best practices in Japan libraries, in terms of technological, space-planning, and infrastructure development; (2) learn new trends and concepts of library services; (3) observe closely how Japan libraries address today’s issues and challenges in their desire to go digital; (4) foster professional and cultural exchanges between Filipino and Japanese librarians; and, (5) establish a linkage with counterpart Japan libraries for future collaborative undertakings.
This event is highlighted with visits to well-selected academic and research libraries, information centers, museums, and cultural heritage sites, like: (1) The National Diet Library, (2) Chiba Institute of Technology, (3) Musashino Art University Library and Museum, (4) Tokyo National Museum, (5) MIRAIKAN “National Museum of Emerging Science and Innovation”, (6) Asakusa Kannon Temple (7) and the Imperial Palace from the Nijubashi Bridge.
