37th Gabriel A. Bernardo Memorial Lecture


The Gabriel A. Bernardo Memorial Lecture is the premier and longest running lecture series in the Philippines pertaining to library and information studies. Now on its 37th year, the lecture continues to celebrate the life, work, and vision of the Doyen of Philippine Librarianship.

Following the leading scholars and practitioners of the profession and in allied fields that have graced the series in the past, this year’s lecture will be given by no less than the Hon. Lourdes David. Her lecture will be on "Education and Leadership in the LIS Profession."

This event is open to the public and will be held on the 16th of March 2016 (Wednesday) at the U.P. Main Library lobby from 9:00am to 12:00nn.

BERNARDO MEMORIAL LECTURE SERIES on Friday, March 14, 2014, 8:30 a.m. at the Penthouse of the UP Law Center, UP Diliman Quezon CityProf. Salvacion M. Arlante, former University Librarian of the UP Main Library will talk about the role of librarians in the preservation of cultural heritage. This year’s theme is “Librarians and Their Role in Preserving Cultural Heritage”.

34th Gabriel A. Bernardo Lecture Series


The Gabriel A. Bernardo Memorial Lecture Series is held annually in honor of the late Prof. Gabriel A. Bernardo, the doyen of Philippine Librarianship. He devoted his whole life to the development of librarianship and the training of hundreds of Filipino librarians.

This year's topic is entitled Click...Like...Comment...Share: A Primer on RA 10175 - The Cybercrime Prevention Act of 2012.

Our speaker is Atty. Emma C. Francisco, current Intellectual Property Consultant at Creativelaw and former Director General of the Intellectual Property Office of the Philippines.
