Training-Workshop on Digitization and Digital Preservation for Wider Access

Dear Colleagues:

The Asosasyon ng Aklatan at Sinupan ng Diliman, Inc. (AASDI) in partnership with the University Library, University of the Philippines invite you to participate in a Training-Workshop entitled Digitization and Digital Preservation for Wider Access to be held on 20-22 May 2015 at the Main Library, Gonzalez Hall, University of the Philippines, Diliman, Quezon City.

The main objective of the Training-Workshop is to provide participants with the means to move beyond theoretical understanding to implementation strategies adhering to the current and emerging standards, best practices, and sound decision-making in planning and implementing digitization projects.

Specifically, this training-workshop aims to enable the participants to:

1. Understand the basic concepts of digitization and digital preservation;
2. Know the different hardware and software used for image capture, image processing, storage, preservation, and retrieval;
3. Make good choices and to initiate successful digital imaging and digitization programs at their home institutions;
4. Define and design a low cost digitization project; and
5. Implement digitization projects and establish institutional repositories.

Registration fee is Php 5,000.00 (inclusive of meals, kit, and certificate). Interested participants may reserve a slot and pre-register at http://tinyurl.com/o62wf2t. Training-Workshop on Digitization @ UPD

Forum on "Digitization of Documents and Resources for Preservation"

The Ortigas Center Library Consortium (OCLC) Inc., in cooperation with Lourdes School of Mandaluyong (LSM) organizing a forum on "Digitization of Documents and Resources for Preservation" on June 28, 2007 from 1:00-5:00 pm at Lourdes School of Mandaluyong, Shaw Blvd., Mandaluyong City. 1. know what documents and resources need digitization;
2. be aware of the recent development in digitization of documents;
3. learn how to digitize documents and resources.
   

A fee of P150 will be charged to members of OCLC while non-members will be charged P200 and college students P100.00. Forum fee is inclusive of snacks and certificates.

Digitization of Documents for Greater Access

After 7 years, the Institute of Library and Information Science(ILIS) now School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS), will finally hold a Summer Institute on Information Science. This year's topic is on"Digitization of Documents for Greater Access." This will be most beneficial to participants from organizations who are planning to digitize their print collections, or who are in the early stages of digitization of documents.

The seminar-workshop will be held on May 7-11, 2007 (5 days) at SLIS Computer Labs, 3rd Floor Gonzales Hall, UP Diliman, Quezon City. Seminar fee is P6,000.00 inclusive of meals and e-handouts. You will have to bring your own materials for scanning (1 book, 1 serial issue, 10 pcsmanuscripts, 10 pcs loose leaf documents, 5 black and whitephotographs, 5 colored photographs).
