PLAI-STRLC Promoting Information Literacy for Lifelong Learning


The Philippine Librarians Association Inc. - Southern Tagalog Region Librarians Council (PLAI-STRLC) organized a Regional Conference and General Assembly last September 25 and 26, 2006 at the Capuchin Retreat Center, Barangay San Sebastian, Lipa City, Batangas. The conference was attended by 84 librarians and information specialists from libraries in the provinces of Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Quezon, Mindoro, Rizal, Romblon, Negros Occidental and Metro Manila. Additional 21 librarians graced the General Assembly on the second day.

The conference has placed "Information Literacy" at the heart of its programme with the theme, Regional Conference on Promoting Information Literacy for Lifelong Learning.” It aimed to bring lifelong learning back onto the agenda of library and information services and to provide an avenue to exchange ideas or address the challenges in providing lifelong learning opportunities for all and in designing information literacy programs for the 21st century.
