We are currently conducting a study on the "Readiness of Philippine School/Academic Libraries in K-12 Implementation: a Cross-Sectional Study". This study is conducted to: 1) measure the readiness of Philippine school/academic libraries in Southern Tagalog Region in terms of provision of collection, facilities, services, human resources, information technology infrastructure and budget; and 2) identify the gap based on the level of compliance vis-à-vis with the Philippine school library standards.Please answer the online survey at :

IBC Book Consolidators, Inc., McGraw-Hill Education and Cengage Learning cordially invite you, your Basic Education Principal, Subject Area Coordinators to attend the seminar “Making Schools Globally Competitive” to be held at Seminar Room, Megatrade Hall 1, 5th Level, Mega B, SM Megamall, EDSA, Mandaluyong City on July 9, 2014 from 1:00 PM to 6:30 PM. This is one of the activities during the 18thPhilippine Academic Bookfair.
This seminar is being held in response to the challenges in the implementation of the educational reforms being undertaken by the Department of Education in preparation for the ASEAN integration. It aims to provide school administrators, subject area coordinators and teachers the strategies in implementing the K-12 curriculum particularly for Grades 11 and 12 thereby “Making Schools Globally Competitive : The K-12 Curriculum” the topic to be discussed by Dr. Isagani R. Cruz, multi-awarded poet, writer, educator , former Undersecretary of Education and now President of Manila Times College and DepEd Consultant.
Learning resources for the new breed of visual, technology-savvy students and teachers are relevant in improving the teaching –learning process. Hence, selection of relevant materials are important. This seminar also aims to help participants appreciate “The Role of Libraries and Librarians in Making Schools Globally Competitive”, the topic to be discussed by Hon. Lourdes T. David, multi-awarded librarian , writer, lecturer, former Director of Rizal Library, Ateneo de Manila University and now Member of the Professional Regulatory Board of Librarians.
Other speakers are Ms. Nouva Daina Bersales, Senior Sales Executive, Cengage Learning Asia and Mr. Dino Danao, Marketing Executive, School and ELL Division of McGraw-Hill Education.
Ms. Bersales will make a presentation on the “Tools and Resources in the Global Age for the Classroom and Beyond” developed by Cengage Learning / National Geographic Learning. Using examples from Cengage Learning’s exciting materials, participants of this seminar will learn how print and media content can be combined in inspiring, innovative ways to bring our world to life and take the students on an unforgettable journey from the classroom to the world.
Mr. Danao will talk on McGraw-Hill’s “Digital Resources for the Globally Competitive K-12 Classroom” being used by international schools all over the world as well as schools in the United States and North America and show samples of some of them that are relevant to the Philippines K-12 curriculum.
