Book Talk on "Kultura sa Likod ng Bawat Obra Maestra"

Dear Colleagues and Friends:

In celebration of the 23rd Library and Information Services (LIS) Month and 79th National Book Week (NBW), the BTSP wishes to hold a Book Talk on “Kultura sa Likod ng Bawat Obra Maestra: Nobela ng Carlos Palanca” which is in line with the LIS and NBW theme “Libraries: Preservers and Promoters of Culture and the Arts” to be held on November 26, 2013 (Tuesday), 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at the National Library of the Philippines (NLP) Auditorium, T.M. Kalaw St., Ermita, Manila. We have invited Prof. Eros S. Atalia as our resource speaker. He is this year's Carlos Palanca Grand Prize Winner in Filipino Novel Category.  A registration fee of Two Hundred (Php200.00) pesos for the professionals and One Hundred (Php 100.00) pesos for the students will be charged from each participant to cover snacks and certificates.

NBW Theme for 2010 Celebration

In the PLAI NBOT meeting I attended last July 22, 2010, the final 2010 NBW Theme is
Pandaigdigang Pakikipag-ugnayan sa Pamamagitan ng mga Aklat at Impormasyong Teknolohiya at Komunikasyon
The Opening Ceremonies and Book Character Parade will be on November 24, 2010 at the National Library of the Philippines (NLP), T.M. Kalaw St., Ermita, Manila. Prizes are at stake for the best float as follows: 7k for the 1st Prize, 5k for the 2nd Prize, 3k for the 3rd Prize and three consolation prizes of 1.5k each.

Awarding of the winners in the Storytelling, Essay Writing and Poster Making contests will also be given during the program of the opening ceremony. The prizes are as follows: 4k for the 1st Prize, 3k for the 2nd Prize and 2k for the 3rd Prize. An additional consolation prizes of PhP 500 for six participants in the poster making contest.

The National Book Week (NBW) is being celebrated from November 24-30 as part and parcel of the month long activities of the Library and Information Services Month as per Proclamation no. 837 s. 1991 declaring the month of November 1991 and every year thereafter as "LIS Month".

Winners of the LIS Wizard Competition

It was announced during the Librarians Forum & Fellowship Luncheon at the Shangrila Restaurant last November 29, 2008 the winners of the LIS Wizards contest held in celebration of the NBW 2008 activities. A few days later, Ms. Sharon Esposo, the 17th LIS Wizard Competition chair, emailed the complete list of the winners and the names of the other contestants from the participating institution. Our congratulations to all winners and participating instiutions. Kudos to PATLS for spearheading this noble NBW activity.
