MIBF2019: PNU-LISAA Forum


The Philippine Normal University Library and Information Science Alumni Association (PNU-LISAA), Inc. will be at this year's Manila International Book Fair! We are cordially inviting everyone to our forum entitled, “Beyond CS and CX: Making Your Library Customer-Centric” to be held on 12 September 2019, 2:00pm-3:00pm at Meeting Room 3, SMX Convention Center, SM Mall of Asia Complex, Pasay City.

This forum endeavors to enable participants to apply the core concepts of Customer-Centric Innovation (CCI) in libraries in order to provide the complete customer experience and ensure customer success and satisfaction.

PNU-LISAA Seminar-Workshop

To our dearest colleagues in the profession,

Warmest greetings!

The Philippine Normal University Library and Information Science Alumni Association (PNU-LISAA), Inc. will hold a seminar-workshop with the theme, “Beating the Traffic : Prioritizing Collection Development and Information Services in the Hybrid Library Environment”, to be held on May 24-26, 2017 at Balay Indang, Indang, Cavite.

This seminar-workshop is designed to provide participants an emphasis on the collection development function as strategic tool that contributes to information services and other library activities in the attainment of overall library goals. Participants from different hybrid libraries will engage in hands-on activities, guided discussions, and other expert-led exercises intended to help them.

At the end of the sessions, participants will be able to:

1. Better understand the strategies behind the creation of Patron Driven-Acquisition (PDA) and its implementation;
2. Weigh the difference, and pros and cons of using the library space as a repository of print collection and as a social learning space;
3. Update themselves with modern ways of preservation and digitization that are used in various hybrid libraries;
4. Provide useful models and detailed approaches to weeding culled from a wide range of hybrid library settings;
5. Strengthen their skills on modern indexing and abstracting techniques;
6. Examine information through collaborative efforts on document delivery and information services.   

A seminar fee of P5,500.00 will be charged per participant to cover registration fee, accommodation for 3 days and 2 nights, meals, snacks, kits, and certificates of attendance and participation.

PNULISSA Seminar-Workshop : Brick by Brick


The Philippine Normal University Library and Information Science Alumni Association (PNULISAA), Inc. will hold a seminar-workshop entitled, “BRICK BY BRICK: A MODERN LIBRARIAN’S GUIDE TO BUILDING AN ENGAGING USER EDUCATION PROGRAM” to be held on May 20-22, 2015 in Baler, Aurora.

This seminar-workshop intends to provide intensive discussion and hands-on instruction on user education programs in libraries.

Specifically, it aims to:
• discuss the theories and knowledge on user education programs in libraries;
• review the librarians’ teaching skills and competencies;
• emphasize the necessity of a carefully-designed user education program;
• discuss the materials and tools that can be used to enhance the delivery of user education programs;
• provide strategies and techniques to create an effective and engaging learning atmosphere; and,
• provide hands-on workshop on the creation of user education programs to reinforce the knowledge, materials and strategies discussed.

A seminar fee of 4, 500 will be charged per participant to cover registration fee, accommodation for 3 days and 2 nights, meals, snacks, kits and certificate of attendance/participation.

A reservation fee of P1,000.00 is required, refundable in full if notice of cancellation is received three weeks before the seminar. Payments through checks or cash may be deposited to our BDO Account No. 470378972, payable to Philippine Normal University Library and Information Science Alumni Association (PNULISAA), Inc. (for checks, please complete the name of the association as it is written here for the check to be valid). Please fax or send via email the copy of your deposit slips with your name and contact number. On-site registration may be allowed; however, accommodation will depend on the availability of rooms.

PNULISAA Seminar on Reference Management Platforms

Dear Colleagues:

The Philippine Normal University Library and Information Science Alumni Association (PNULISAA), Inc. in cooperation with De La Salle Philippines (DLSP) cordially invite you to a seminar entitled, “Reference Management Platforms: All Systems Go! A Holistic Approach to Modern Reference Service” to be held on May 8-9, 2014 at the De La Salle University Learning Commons, Taft Avenue, Manila.

The seminar specifically aims to:
  • Revisit the beginning of the reference service management platforms in libraries and its importance to the work of the librarians.
  • Provide an understanding of the proper selection and usage of reference service management platforms.
  • Introduce and update librarians with the modern reference service management platforms.
  • Help information professionals keep abreast of the latest trends and technologies which they can apply and adapt to their libraries and information centers.
  • Discuss examples and provide learning experiences in using different reference service management platforms.
A fee of Php2,000.00 will be charged to librarians for the registration, meals,  training kit, and certificate of participation/attendance.
A discounted rate of Php500.00 will be charged to undergraduate students inclusive of registration and certificate only (no meals and training kit will be provided). A valid school ID is required to avail of the discounted rate.

PNU-LISSA Executive Board 2012 Candidates

Calling all PNU-LISAA members.

Please select 8 names from the list of candidates for the PNU-LISAA Board of Directors for 2012 and return the ballot on or before November 21, 2011 or send via email here.

Canvassing of votes will be on November 22, 2011 at the Higher Education Library, Sta. Isabel College, Taft Avenue, Manila. Proclamation of the winners will be done during the General Assembly on December 3, 2011 at Philippine Normal University.

Library Customer Care

PNU-LISAA, Inc. will hold a 2-day seminar-workshop on LIBRARY CUSTOMER CARE on August 14-15, 2007 at the Library Conference Room, Edilberto P. Dagot Hall, Philippine Normal University.

The seminar-workshop aims to: introduce customer care to the library profession; encourage all to utilize accepted customer care models in the practice of the library profession; and enrich the customers’ library experience while handled by the library personnel and other information professionals. Topics include (1) professional care across all services; (2) marketing brands and library customer care models; (3) library customer care as an institutional marketing tool; and (4) enriching the customers' library expreience.

Registration fee is Two Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (Php 2,500.00) which will cover seminar kits, handouts, certificate of participation, certificate of appearance, snacks and lunches. Reservation with partial payments of One Thousand Five Hundred Pesos (Php 1,500.00) on or before July 15, 2007 enjoys a ten-percent (10%) discount.
