SFA Seminar-Workshop

Society of Filipino Archivists Forum and GA



The Society of Filipino Archivists will hold its General Assembly on the 29th of January 2015, Thursday, 1:00-5:00 p.m. at the University of the Philippines Hotel,Guerrero St. Cor. Aglipay St., UP Campus, Diliman, Quezon City. 

To optimize the opportunity of this assembly and to encourage further participation and attendance by members, a Forum on ASEAN Integration: Future Possibilities for Archivists will be delivered by Hon. Yolanda C. Granda, ex-officio of the Society and current Professional Board for Librarians chair, before the General Assembly.

In celebration of its 26th Founding Anniversary, is sponsoring a Forum on "Legal Information Networks : International Experience and Perspective" and General Assembly and Induction of the Newly Elected Officers and Board on October 19, 2007, Monday, 8:00 A.M.– 12:00 Noon at the University of the Philippines (U.P.), College ofLaw, Ambion Room, Malcolm Hall, Diliman, Quezon City.

The speaker is Dr. Holger Knudsen, the Immediate Past President of the International Association of Law Libraries (IALL) and the Library Director of Max Planck Institute for Comparative and International Private Law in Hamburg, Germany, will talk about "Legal Information Networks: International Experience and Perspective. "

The forum aims to define the current status and inter-relationships of different types of law libraries and librarians (corporate, special, court, government agency, hospital, institutional, law, newspaper, etc.; to explore the role of law libraries and librarians in the network plan for multi-type library cooperation and resource- sharing; and to assist in furthering the fine-tuning and development of the multi-type library network.

Registration fee is FREE to PGLL members and P200.00 to non-members inclusive of certificate and snack.

The 3rd Rizal Library International Conference with this year theme "From Classroom to Career: Roadmaps to a Library's Success". on October 22-23, 2007 at the Escaler Hall, Science Education Complex, Ateneo de Manila University Loyola Heights Campus, Quezon City.

The Conference Program is designed to encourage and appreciate the exchange of ideas and experiences on strategic plans that ensure responsiveness and relevance of libraries, librarians, and information professionals in the information society. Likewise, the conference pursues how library stakeholders create and manage library roadmaps in a constantly changing society. While it is true that some libraries and information centers have accomplished great strides, they should continue to create new roadmaps to meet greater challenges.

A live-in Seminar Workshop on "Conservation of Documentary Heritage" on 22-24 October 2007 at the Pearlmont Inn, Cagayan de Oro City.

4-days study tour to Bangkok, Thailand, on October 23-26, 2007.

The objective of this trip is to benchmark the facilities/services/operations of libraries and museums in Thailand and visit cultural/historical places.
