Raffle Bonanza for the Balai Ti PLAI Project

PLAI is holding a Raffle Bonanza for the Balai Ti PLAI Project to augment the seed money previously raise for the Balai Ti PLAI funds for the construction of its own building and/or headquarters. The draw date is set on November 30, 2010 during the Librarian's Day Celebration and Fellowship Luncheon at Shangri-la Restaurant in Quezon City.

Prizes at stake are as follows:

1^st Prize : PhP 50,000.00 (plus a 5k incentive to the solicitor of the winning ticket)

2^nd Prize : PhP 30,000.00 (plus a 3k incentive to the solicitor of the winning ticket)

3^rd Prize : PhP 20,000.00 (plus a 2k incentive to the solicitor of the winning ticket)

and 20 Consolation Prizes of PhP 1,000.00 each.

Each of the 16 Regional Council of PLAI will be given 50 booklets of tickets considered as sold (1 booklet cost 1k). 20% of the amount of sold tickets will be retained by each Regional Council as its seed money to finance their regional activities and only 80% will be remitted to PLAI for the prizes, printing of the raffle tickets and hopefully a 500k additional seed money for the construction of the longstanding dream of Librarians for a PLAI Building.

Winners of the 4th PLAI-STRLC Anniversary Raffle Draw

The PLAI-STRLC Council Officers unanimously agreed last September 25, 2008, to double the announced 20 consolation prizes to 40 consolation prizes giving away PhP 200.00 per winner. Further, it was decided to allow multiple winnings in recognition of the advertisement of the raffle draw "the more tickets you buy, the more chances of winning". To ensure transparency and pure luck to everyone, only members/participants from the Regional Conference were tapped to draw the winning tickets from the tiambolo one at a time in a batch of 5 per drawee, each time rotating the tiambolo after picking the tickets.

As the saying goes "When it rains, it pours" truly exemplified by the sheer luck of the ticket buyers from Cavite who cornered 16 out of 40 Consolation prizes.

4th Year Anniversary Raffle Draw Postponed

Last April 2008, the PLAI-STRLC announced the launching of its 4th Year Anniversary Raffle Activity with the draw date originally set on July 27, 2008, the Anniversary Date of PLAI-STRLC existence. During the 6^th PLAI-STRLC Regular Meeting held at Batangas Provincial Library, the Council Officers decided after much deliberation to postpone the draw to September 26, 2008, to coincide with the 4^th General Assembly of the association to be held in Lucena City. So that instead of only the Council Officers celebrating our Anniversary, registered librarians and friends of the library would also be present to share the momentous event.

4th Year Anniversary Raffle Mechanics

In celebration of PLAI-Southern Tagalog Region Librarians Council (PLAI-STRLC) 4th year of existence on July 27, 2008, Raffle for a cause was launched last April 2008. Proceeds of this activity will be used to fund the outreach program activities of the PLAI-STRLC.

The mechanics of the raffle are as follows:

1. A minimum of two (2) booklets per STRLC librarian will be distributed within the region. One(1) booklet is considered sold. For every booklet sold, the seller gets a 10% discount (P200 worth ticket, only P180 will be remitted to PLAI-STRLC)

2. Unsold tickets should be returned on or before July 15, 2008. Unreturned tickets are considered sold. Stubs of sold tickets should be submitted before 12nn of July 15, 2008.

3. Only sold tickets will be raffled on 12:01pm of July 15, 2008 at the lobby of the Main Library of UP Los Baños. Prizes are as follows: 1st Prize: P3,000; 2nd Prize: P2,000; 3rd Prize: P1,000 and 20 Consolation Prizes.

4. Notification of the winning tickets should be the accountability of the seller.

5. Winners agree that their names will be published on the PLAI-STRLC newsletter and blog.

6. Unclaimed prizes shall be forfeited in favor of PLAI-STRLC sixty (60) days after the draw date.

7. PLAI-STRLC officers, library staff and friends of the library are ENCOURAGED to buy as many tickets as they want. The more tickets you buy the more chances that the PLAI-STRLC outreach program will be a success.

4th Year Anniversary Raffle

To commemorate the 4th year anniversary of the PLAI - Southern Tagalog Region Librarians Council (PLAI-STRLC) on July 27, 2008, the STRLC Officers during its meeting last March 18, 2008, agreed to launch another raffle for a cause activity. Since the first raffle for a cause endeavor was a success and was able to donate substantial amount to the outreach program recipients : PLAI-Bicol Region Librarians Council (PLAI-BRLC), Cavite Provincial Library and PLAI- National Office, it is a noble act to continue the project.
