CLASS Seminar on Application of new Cataloging Policy in Libraries

Warm greetings from the Association!

The Cavite Librarians Association, (CLASS) Inc. in coordination with the De La Salle University--DasmariƱas (DLSU-D) will hold a seminar on “Application of New Cataloging Policy (RDA) in Libraries” which will be held on May 22, 2015 at Aklatang Emilio Aguinaldo, DLSU-DasmariƱas, Cavite from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM. 

The main objective of the seminar is to cascade the new adopted cataloging policy statements and RDA guidelines for Philippine libraries in replacement of the Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR2) in the province of Cavite. 

Target participants are Librarians and Teacher-Librarians from the private public schools/institutions in Cavite. A fee of PhP 500.00 will be collected to cover lunch, snacks, certificate of participation, certificate of appearance for public/government employees, and other incidental expenses. For those who want to renew their membership for 2015, a separate amount of PhP 100.00 will be collected.

2014 Outstanding Librarian of Cavite


CLASS (Cavite Librarians Association, Inc.) awarded the "2014 Outstanding Librarian of Cavite" to Dr Sonia M. Gementiza, Director of Aklatan Emilio Aguinaldo of De La Salle University-Dasmarinas during the General Assembly meeting of the association held at National College of Science & Technology (NCST) Dasmarinas campus, 30 January 2015.

The provincial chapter report is a portion in the PLAI-STRLC President Report of Ms Rose Villamater highlighting the cascading of activities from the region to the provincial level.

CLASS National Conference

Dear Colleagues:

The Cavite Librarians Association, Inc. is pleased to invite you to its National Conference & General Assembly with the theme: "Global Challenges in Library and Information Services" which will be held on December 5-7, 2012 at Island Cove Hotel & Leisure Park in Binakayan, Kawit, Cavite.

Knowledge sharing, awareness to the challenges in this global/digital age, information sharing, knowledge management, integration of information literacy, professional ethics and accreditor's points of view are among that we would like to give emphasis through our invited experts.

Topics includes: Challenges in Information Sharing in a Network/Digital Environment; Global Challenges in Knowledge Management in Professional Organization; Professional Ethics & Professionalism in Library and Information Services; Challenges in Accreditations for Philippine Libraries and Information Centers : A Panel Discussion; Challenges in Integrating Electronic/Digital Resources in the Process of Collection Development; Integrating Information Literacy Courses for the K-12: Challenges and Possibilities. 

Conference fees are as follows: 

Live-in Participants: PhP 5,000.00* will be charged inclusive of overnight accommodation  with breakfast, lunch, dinner in addition to snacks, kits and certificate.

Live-out Participant: PhP 4,800.00* will be charged including seminar meals, kits and certificate.

Accompanying Person: PhP 4,500.00 will be charged to include accommodation with meals and snacks.

Attendees of G.A. only: PhP 500.00 will be charged to include lunch, snacks, certificate  and CLASS, Inc. membership renewal for 2013.

CLASS National Conference 2011

The Cavite Librarians Association, Inc. (CLASS), one of the most active chapter member of PLAI-Southern Tagalog Region Librarians Council (PLAI-STRLC) is organizing its National Conference with the theme "Libraries & Information Centers : Improvements and Innovations" to be held at the El Cielito Hotel, Tagaytay City on October 12-14, 2011.

CLASS holds 1st IFLA-FAIFE IM Cascading to the Provincial Level


The Cavite Librarians Association Inc (CLASS) in cooperation with the PLAI-Southern Tagalog Region Librarians Council held the 1st IFLA/FAIFE Internet Manifesto Cascading to the Provincial Level last 31 July 2009 at the New Legislative Building, Trece Martires City, Cavite.

Fifty-six (56) participants, excluding the CLASS Officers, from Cavite, Batangas and Las PiƱas comprised the attendance.

CLASS Forum on Information Literacy & GA

The Cavite Librarians Association, Inc. will hold its General Assembly and Forum on Information Literacy (IL) on December 5, 20008 at the Audiovisual Rm., Imus Institute, Imus, Cavite. It is a one day activity which includes election of new set of Officers for AY 2009.

The objectives of the Forum are to orient the library personnel and information professionals in the latest trends in user education and information skills training. Specifically, it will equip the participants to have a basic knowledge to create, develop and manage a library or information unit which meets the specific information needs of the organization.

A registration fee of P300.00 will be collected to all participants to cover food (2 snacks, lunch), forum certificate and membership fee for AY2009.

The New Face of the 21st Century Libraries and Information Specialists

The Cavite Librarians Association, Inc. (CLASS) will hold its annual seminar on December 5-7, 2007 at the La Sallete Retreat House, Biga, Silang, Cavite. The theme of the seminar is “The New Face of the 21st Century Libraries and Information Specialists”.

The aim of the three day seminar is to enhance the library personnel's analytical ability, communication skills, intellectual curiosity and service orientation on the current trends and practices in the library world.

The seminar fees are as follow:
Php 3,000 - live-in ( to include accommodations, breakfast/dinner in addition to seminar meals, conference kits and certificate)
Php 2,700 - live-out (to include lunches/snacks, conference kits and certificate)
Php 350 - for CLASS members who will attend only the General Assembly

Forum on Library Advocacy: Making a Difference

The Cavite Librarians Association, Inc. in coordination with Aklatang Emilio Aguinaldo will hold a one-day “Forum on Library Advocacy: Making A Difference” and General Assembly to be held at Luis Aguado Viewing Room of Aklatang Emilio Aguinaldo, De La Salle University, DasmariƱas, Cavite on December 6, 2006.

The forum will concentrate on the librarian’s role in educating our communities about why libraries are essential in an information society. It also aims to develop the skills necessary to promote the services of the library within the school complex, the community, and beyond. The topics include: The Role of Libraries in the 21st Century (Mila Ramos, Chief Librarian, IRRI Library); Library Marketing: Promoting Library Programs and Services (Jane L. Bebeng, Chief Librarian, Colegio de San Juan de Letran-Calamba Library); and Libraries Go Live: Libraries and ICT (Sonia Gementiza, Library Director, De La Salle University-DasmariƱas).

The registration fee is PhP 300.00 for members and PhP 500.00 for non-members to include snacks, meals, handouts and certificate of participation.
