PATLS Annual LIS Enrichment Program

The Philippine Association of Teachers of Library and Information Science (PATLS) shall be conducting its annual LIS Enrichment Program from July 2 to September 3, 2017 (10 Sundays) to be held at the 1st Floor, SPED Room, Albertus Magnus Building, College of Education, University of Santo Tomas.

The enrichment program fee is Php. 3,500.00. Prepayment is preferred, otherwise reservation should be made.

Librarians' Leadership Convergence

To all Library/Librarians Association Presidents:

The Professional Regulatory Board for Librarians in cooperation with the Philippine Librarians Association, Inc and in partnership with the Rizal Library, Ateneo de Manila University invites you to the first ever Librarians’ Leadership Convergence: A Consultative Meeting on the Continuing Professional Development, Career Progression, and Research Agenda for Filipino Librarians towards the Mutual Recognition of the Professional Qualifications of Librarians in the ASEAN on June 8-9, 2017 at the 5th floor, Conference Room, Rizal Library, Ateneo de Manila University, Katipunan, Quezon City.

This activity aims to engage all the library association presidents or their representatives and the regional council presidents of PLAI in a discussion towards the formulation of a collaborative professional development and research agenda. Specifically, the activity aims to discuss the following: a) The Philippine Qualifications Framework; b) The CPD Act of 2016 and its IRR;c) The operational guidelines for librarians in the implementation of the CPD Act 2016; d) The PRC Resolution 2016-990; e) Career Progression; and f) Mutual Recognition of Professional Qualifications. Further, this activity will also set the direction of development of the profession through the cooperative formulation of a continuing professional development agenda; a research agenda for the growth of the profession; and a career progression framework for Filipino Librarians.

A minimal registration fee shall be collected amounting to PhP1,000.00 to cover the incidental expenses relative to the convergence. Please take note that accommodation is not included in the registration fee.

A certificate of participation with CPD credit units will be awarded to each participant after the activity.

Sumali sa Gawad KWF sa Sanaysay 2017!

Tuntunin

Ang Gawad KWF sa Sanaysay ay bukás sa lahat maliban sa mga kawani ng KWF at kanilang kaanak.

Ang paksa ng sanaysay ay maaaring pagtalakay ng konsepto o resulta ng saliksik sa larang na agham-pangkalikasan, agham panlipunan, matematika, o mga katulad nito.

Kailangang nasusulat sa Filipino ang lahok, orihinal, hindi pa nailalathala, at hindi rin salin mula sa ibang wika. Marapat na hindi ito magkukulang sa 15 pahina at hindi rin sosobra sa 30.

Bilang saliksik, kailangang sumusunod ang paraan ng pagsulat nito sa mga tuntuning nakasaad sa KWF Manwal sa Masinop na Pagsulat.

Ang lahok ay kailangang may apat (4) na kopyang makinilyado o kompiyuterisado (Font-12, Arial), may dobleng espasyo, at may isang pulgadang palugit sa bawat gilid na nakaimprenta sa short bond paper na may laking 8 ½ x 11 pulgada.  Ang soft copy ng lahok ay kailangang ilagay sa isang compact disc (CD).

Kinakailangang nagtataglay lamang ng sagisag-panulat (pen name) ang dokumento, soft copy man o nakaimprentang kopya.

Kasama ng ipapasang lahok ay isang isang selyadong No. 10 envelope na naglalaman ng hiwalay na pormularyo sa paglahok para sa buong detalye ng may-akda, dalawang retrato (2×2) ng kalahok, at maikling biodata.

Anumang pasiya ng Lupon ng Inampalan ay pinal at hindi na maipaghahabol. Lahat ng lahok, nanalo man o  natalo, ay hindi na ibabalik sa mga kalahok at angkin ng KWF ang karapatang mailathala ang mga nagwaging lahok nang walang royalty sa mga may-akda.

Ang gantimpala ay ang sumusunod: una, P30,000.00 at karangalang maging “Mananaysay ng Taon”; pangalawa, P20,000.00; pangatlo, P15,000.00.

Hindi patatawarin ang sino mang mahuhuli nagplahiyo. Kakanselahin ng KWF ang ipinagwaging lahok at hindi na muling makasasali pa sa alinmang timpalak ng KWF.

Hanggang 07 Hulyo 2017, 5:00 nh ang pagtanggap ng mga lahok. Hindi tatanggapin ang mga lahok na ipinasa sa email.

The Role of Libraries in Benedictine Schools and Colleges

The Consortium of Benedictine Colleges in Metro Manila (CBCMM-Library Committee) will be holding a seminar workshop entitled “The Role of Libraries in Benedictine Schools and Colleges” on May 17, 2017, Wednesday, 8:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M., at Pamanang Bedista, San Beda College Manila.

The seminar workshop aims to emphasize the Benedictine values of library services in Benedictine Schools and Colleges. Speakers for this seminar workshop are professionals from San Beda College Mendiola and Alabang.

Librarians from different colleges and universities are invited to participate in this seminar workshop. The registration fee is Php 200.00 that covers the meals, snacks and certificate for the event.

Rest in Peace : Jane Lantica Bebeng

Please pray for the eternal repose of the soul of Ma'am Jane Lantica Bebeng who passed away today, May 2, 2017. She was a former member of the National Board of Trustees (NBOT) of PLAI, PLAI-STRLC President and served as librarian of the following institutions, DLSU-STC Complex (Laguna), Aquinas University of Legazpi (Albay), STI College-Southwoods (Cavite) and Letran-Calamba (Laguna)

Her remains lie in state at the Holy Trinity Memorial Chapels and Crematorium, Dr. Arcadio Santos Ave, Sucat, Parañaque City.
