Cross Border Mobility of Librarians in the ASEAN region

On 9 June 2015 the Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. (PLAI) and the Thailand Library Association (TLA) organised a convening prior to the CONSAL (Congress of South East Asian Nations) conference in Bangkok, Thailand. The convening on ASEAN Integration: Cross Border Mobility of Librarians aimed to create a platform for common understanding of ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations) Economic and Socio-Cultural Communities, and cross-border mobility of librarians amongst leaders of the library profession in the 10 ASEAN member states.

PLAI-NCRLC Special Forum on ASEAN 2015 : Cross-Border Mobility for Librarians

The Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. - National Capital Region Librarians Council (PLAI-NCRLC) is pleased to invite everyone to a Special Forum on Ă„SEAN 2015 : Cross-Border Mobility for Librarians - Opportunity or Threat? "on September 17, 2014, 8:00am - 11:00am, during the 35th Manila International Book Fair, SMX Convention Center, Mall of AsiaComplex, Pasay City. There will be an overview of the key issues on ASEAN Integration by Dr. Dominique R. Tutay, OIC Director, Bureau of Labor and Employment, DOLE.

The PLAI-NCRLC would like to ensure that librarians and other information professionals can respond effectively to the various ASEAN challenges and contribute to the ASEAN's community-building goals.

Among the panelists are: Hon. Lourdes T. David, representing the Professional Regulatory Board for Librarians; Mrs. Elizabeth R. Peralejo, for the Philippine Librarians Association, Inc.; Dean Kate B. Obille, for library educators; and Ms. Elvira B. Lapuz, for practicing librarians.
