Libraries & Information Centers: Improvements and Innovations

The Cavite Librarians Association, Inc. (CLASS, Inc.), is pleased to announce its National Conference with the theme “Libraries & Information Centers: Improvements and Innovations” to be held at the El Cielito Hotel, Tagaytay City on October 12-14, 2011.

The conference will gain strategies in managing customer relationship and interactions with our clients; provide participants with many opportunities to learn about technology being used in libraries today; learn more about the Resource Description & Access (RDA), the new standard in cataloging; envision libraries in the future; and discover strategies and techniques in preparing a Library Development Plan.

A registration fee will be collected for the following:

a. Live-in participants: PhP 4,200 inclusive of overnight accommodation with breakfast/dinner in addition to meals and snacks, seminar kits, handouts, cultural tour and certificates.

b. Live-out participants: PhP 3,800 to include lunches/snacks, seminar kits, handouts, cultural tour and certificates.

c. Accompanying persons: PhP 3,500 to cover the cost of accommodation with meals & snacks & cultural tour.

Agosto 1-7: Pagpapahalaga sa Pambansang Wika

3. Pagdaraos ng mga programa at gawain na ang gamit ay wikang Pambansa.
4. Paggamit ng Filipino sa mga komunikasyon at korespondensiya.
5. Pagdaraos ng Timpalak-Bigkasan sa silid-aralan gamit ang pambansang wika sa paksang "Ang Wika ay Lakas at Ilaw sa Tuwid na Landas".
6. Ganap na maipaunawa sa mga mag-aaral na ang tagumpay ay matitiyak kapag mabuti at pinahahalagahan ang paggamit ng wika.

Agosto 8-14: Wika sa Pagpapatudad ng Kaunlaran at Disiplina ng Bayan

1. Pagsasapuso ng Panunumpa sa Watawat.
2. Pagsasadula sa Wikang Filipino ng mga gawaing may kinalman sa kaunlaran at disiplina ng bayan.
3. Pagpapasulat ng pormal or di-pormal (elementary at sekondarya) na sulatin o sanaysay (kolehiyo) tungkol sa paksa
4. Pagtatanghal ng dula-dulaan na naglalarawan ng paksa, gamit ang wikang pambansa.
5. Paghahanda ng iba-ibang slogan na may kaugnayan sa paksa, para sa lalo pang pagpapapasigla ng pagdiriwang.

Agosto 15-21: Wika ang Instrumento sa mga Patakarang Pangkaunlaran at Pangkatarungan

1. Pagsasapuso ng Diwa ng Kalayaan
2. Pagdaraos ng Timpalak sa Talumpatian na ang pokus ay ang lingguhang paksa.
3. Pagdaraos ng talakayan tungkol sa kasaysayan ng kalayaan na tinatamasa ng bayan.
4. Pagdaraos ng debate na may pamagat na "Ang Kahalagahan ng Wika sa Larangan ng Katarungan."

Agosto 22-28: Wikang Filipino : Tugon sa Malinaw na Programa sa Tuwid na Landas

1. Pagsasapuso ng Diwa ng Tuwid na Landas.
2. Pagtalakay sa kahalagahan ng wikang Filipino sa pag-unawa sa isinusulong na mga programa ng Administrasyong Aquino.
3. Pagtatala ng karunungang natamo dahil sa Wikang Filipino.
4. Pagbuo at/o pagsariwa ng nga tula at awiting Filipino tungkol sa pagpapahalaga at pangangalaga sa kalikasan bilang patunay ng pagmamahal sa bayan.
5. Pagdaraos ng timpalak sa paggawa ng poster na naglalarawan ng kalikasan at/o kapaligiran ng Pilipinas noon at ngayon.
6. Pagtataguyod ng Palatuntunan tungkol sa pagmamahal sa wika at kalikasan.

Agosto 29-31: Wikang Filipino, Tinig ng mga Guro, Tinig ng mga Mag-aaral, Wika ng Kabayanihan

1. Pagsasapuso ng Diwa ng ika-150 Selebrasyon ng Kaarawan ni Dr. Jose P. Rizal.
2. Pagtatanghal sa mga isinasagawang patimpalak sa panahon ng pagdiriwang.
3. Pagdaraos ng Palatuntunan na nagpapamalas ng ilaw at lakas ng wika.

LLE Survey

Dear all,

The Board for Librarians have been receiving a lot of requests from non-BLIS graduates for them to be allowed to take the Librarians' Licensure Exam (LLE). As you perhaps know, RA 9246 states that only BLIS and MLIS degree holders are qualified to take the LLE, except for repeaters. In view of these, we would like to know how librarians feel about this restriction. School Library Media Standard

The school library media standard, a component of the Philippine Library Standards that have been subject of numerous consultation with various stakeholders in the profession had been finally endorsed by the Department of Education via a DepEd Order no. 56 s.2011 released last July 19, 2011.

The DepEd Order enjoined all Regional Directors, School Division/City Superintendents to encourage their school librarians to adopt the standards in order to render quality [library] service to pupils/students.
