PATLS Forum : Life is Abundant but Librarians are Scarce
PATLS would like to invite you to attend a forum entitled "Life is Abundant but Librarians are Scarce" on 18 September 2014 from 8:00 to 10:00 AM at the SMX Convention Center, Meeting Room 6. This occasion is in collaboration with the 35th Manila International Book Fair on 17-21 September 2014.
The forum speaker is Ms. Reysa C. Alenzuela, Dean of Academics of Cabalum Western College.

PLAI-NCRLC Special Forum on ASEAN 2015 : Cross-Border Mobility for Librarians
The Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. - National Capital Region Librarians Council (PLAI-NCRLC) is pleased to invite everyone to a Special Forum on Ă„SEAN 2015 : Cross-Border Mobility for Librarians - Opportunity or Threat? "on September 17, 2014, 8:00am - 11:00am, during the 35th Manila International Book Fair, SMX Convention Center, Mall of AsiaComplex, Pasay City. There will be an overview of the key issues on ASEAN Integration by Dr. Dominique R. Tutay, OIC Director, Bureau of Labor and Employment, DOLE.
The PLAI-NCRLC would like to ensure that librarians and other information professionals can respond effectively to the various ASEAN challenges and contribute to the ASEAN's community-building goals.
Among the panelists are: Hon. Lourdes T. David, representing the Professional Regulatory Board for Librarians; Mrs. Elizabeth R. Peralejo, for the Philippine Librarians Association, Inc.; Dean Kate B. Obille, for library educators; and Ms. Elvira B. Lapuz, for practicing librarians.

International Conference on IP Policies and Copyright
A whole-day special event at MIBF, “Copy & Repro” is organized by Filipinas Copyright Licensing Society (FILCOLS) and will be held on September 19 at the Function Room 2, SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex in Pasay City.
FILCOLS’ partner organizations for the event are Intellectual Property (IP) Philippines, the National Book Development Board (NBDB), and the Brussels-based International Federation of Reproduction Rights Organizations (IFRRO). IP Philippines director general Ricardo R. Blancaflor will deliver the keynote address, “Keeping the Philippines Off the USTR’s Watch List.”
Prospective participants are requested to register early because of limited slots. Deadline for registration is on September 5, 2014.
Conference fees cover morning and afternoon snacks, lunch, certificate of participation, and conference kit. Regular rate is PHP 1,500.00. Discounted rate is PHP 1,200.00 for SUCs and for groups of three (3) or more participants from the same institution.

PLAI-STRLC@10: Button Pin
All PLAI-STRLC members that attended the General Assembly held at Camp Allen, Sta. Cruz, Laguna last 31 July 2014 received a button pin commemorating the 10th year founding anniversary of PLAI-STRLC. There is also the soft launching of the STRLC coffee table book highlighting the activities and achievements of the Council and affiliated provincial chapters, directory of libraries and librarians in the regions as part of the year-long activities to celebrate this momentous event in the life of the Council.
