PLAI National Congress - Opening

The venue of the PLAI National Congress 2009 is capable of wifi access but unfortunately it is not free for the participants and the cost per day per unit is rather exorbitant. Fellow blogger in the participants vowed to limit mentioning (if not at all) the name of the hotel in their posting to deny them of free advertising.

We are forced to use our own internet connectivity (e.g. Smart Bro) but for some strange reasons, our cell phones shows strong Smart signal in the session hall but the Smart Bro are weak resulting to frequent disconnection and it is taking so long to upload pictures.

PLAI-STRLC Button / Pin

To celebrate the 5 years existence of the PLAI-STRLC, the Council Officers spearheaded the launching of the commemorative memorabilia to mark this milestone in our association / council life. The Council will release an Annual Report, a Souvenir Program, a PLAI-STRLC button (see image below), a T-shirt (to be launched during the PLAI National General Assembly on November 27, 2009) and recently a banner for our blog. The oathtaking of the successful examinees as well as the previous ones who have not taken their Oath of Professional before the Board will be on December 15, 2008 (Tuesday) at 1:00 PM at the Manila Hotel, One Rizal Park, Roxas Boulevard, Manila.

The registration for the issuance of PRC ID and the certificate of registration will be from November 18, 2009 to December 8, 2008 only. Those who will register are required to submit the following:

1. Duly accomplished Oath form (Panunumpa ng Propesyonal)

2. Current Community Tax Certificate (cedula)

3. 2 pcs passport size colored picture (white background and complete name tag)

4. 1 pc 1" x 1" colored picture (white background and complete name tag)

5. 2 sets of metered documentary stamps

6. 1 pc of brown envelope (with name and profession)

and to pay the initial registration fee of PhP 600.00 and the annual registration fee of PhP 450.00 for 2009-2012.

The successful examinees are automatic members of the Philippine Librarians Association, Inc. (PLAI) and required to pay the membership fee of PhP 500.00 and subsequently the annual dues of PhP 300.00.

The Professional Regulation Commission announces that 284 passed the Librarian Licensure Examination given by the Board of Librarians in the cities of Manila, Baguio, Cebu, Davao,Legazpi & Zamboanga this November 10 & 11, 2009. The members of the Board for Librarians who gave the licensure examination are Corazon M. Nera, Chairman; Elizabeth R. Peralejo and Elnora L. Conti, Members.

Revolutionizing Information : the PLAI-STRLC's IFLA/FAIFE Cascading Report

This is the PLAI-STRLC's final report on the Phase II of the Cascading of the IFLA-FAIFE Internet Manifesto in Southern Tagalog Region. The report include the following: I. Background Information About the Regional Council; II. Southern Tagalog Region Baseline Data on Internet Use & Policies; III. Southern Tagalog Region Cascading of the IFLA-FAIFE Internet Manifesto – Phase II; IV. IFLA-FAIFE Internet Manifesto Cascading to the Provincial Level; V. The Outcome & Other Developments; VI. Acknowledgment; and VII. Appendices.

The said project has been implemented from June - September 2009 and culminated with a final report that was presented during the Council's Annual Conference last October 7-9, 2009 in Antipolo City.
