Library Accreditors
The Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) organized a Training for Accreditors last May 18-19, 2009 at the Jose Rizal University. Seven (7) out of the 37 participants were librarians and five (5) out of 7 librarians were colleagues from the Southern Tagalog Region. The speaker for Area IV (Library) was Ms. Leonor Tiu of the University of Perpetual Help System-Laguna.
The training included listening to the resource speakers as they discuss the nine (9) areas of accreditation, mocked accreditation visit with JRU basic education program exhibits as source documents for evaluation, ocular visit of the elementary & high school libraries, interviewed school librarian and staff to verify submitted exhibits, answered the self-survey instrument and writing the mocked accreditation report for the library area. Dr. Ma. Christina F. Bate of JRU and PACUCOA Secretary participated in the brainstorming to clarify to the future library accreditors the expected mindset for doing the accreditation. During the critiquing of the written report, the librarians were blessed to be facilitated by no other than Adlai C. Castigador, the PACUCOA Executive Director.
From the handouts given, 28 librarians were listed as accreditors and colleagues from Southern Tagalog region includes Ms Elizabeth Malabanan & Ms Aniline Vidal, both from University of Perpetual Help-BiƱan; Ms Elsa Guarino of Lyceum of Batangas University, former Vice-chair of PLAI-STRLC, and Ms Teresita Magbag, formerly Library Director of the Manuel S.
