PNULISSA Seminar-Workshop : Brick by Brick


The Philippine Normal University Library and Information Science Alumni Association (PNULISAA), Inc. will hold a seminar-workshop entitled, “BRICK BY BRICK: A MODERN LIBRARIAN’S GUIDE TO BUILDING AN ENGAGING USER EDUCATION PROGRAM” to be held on May 20-22, 2015 in Baler, Aurora.

This seminar-workshop intends to provide intensive discussion and hands-on instruction on user education programs in libraries.

Specifically, it aims to:
• discuss the theories and knowledge on user education programs in libraries;
• review the librarians’ teaching skills and competencies;
• emphasize the necessity of a carefully-designed user education program;
• discuss the materials and tools that can be used to enhance the delivery of user education programs;
• provide strategies and techniques to create an effective and engaging learning atmosphere; and,
• provide hands-on workshop on the creation of user education programs to reinforce the knowledge, materials and strategies discussed.

A seminar fee of 4, 500 will be charged per participant to cover registration fee, accommodation for 3 days and 2 nights, meals, snacks, kits and certificate of attendance/participation.

A reservation fee of P1,000.00 is required, refundable in full if notice of cancellation is received three weeks before the seminar. Payments through checks or cash may be deposited to our BDO Account No. 470378972, payable to Philippine Normal University Library and Information Science Alumni Association (PNULISAA), Inc. (for checks, please complete the name of the association as it is written here for the check to be valid). Please fax or send via email the copy of your deposit slips with your name and contact number. On-site registration may be allowed; however, accommodation will depend on the availability of rooms.

ASLP Seminar : Managing Modern Libraries


The Association of Special Libraries of the Philippines (ASLP) will hold a seminar with the theme “Managing modern libraries: leadership and sustainability using technology and innovation” from May 20-22, 2015 at Sugarland Hotel, Araneta Ave.Bacolod, Negros Occidental

The main objective of this seminar is to learn how to effectively manage modern libraries. It specifically aims to analyze significant issues in managing modern libraries; present how to address these issues through modern leadership techniques, suitable human resources handling methods, sunshine customer service, creative marketing strategies and effective communication skills; and discuss the role of technology and innovation in leading and sustaining modern libraries.

Librarians, library administrators, information professionals, support staff, teachers and students of Library & Information Science, consultants and other information professionals are invited to attend the said seminar.

Greetings from the Agricultural Librarians Association of the Philippines (ALAP), an organization of librarians and information professionals from private and government agencies, agricultural colleges and universities and other institutions conducting research in agriculture, natural resources and allied fields.

ALAP, in partnership with the University of the Philippines Open University (UPOU) will be holding a forum on “Quality Management System and ISO in Libraries”on 05 June 2015, 8:30AM to 12:00NN, at UPOU CCDL Auditorium, UPOU Headquarters, Los BaƱos, Laguna.The ALAP General Assembly will alsobe held in the afternoon at 1:00 to 5:00PM. These events will highlight the celebration of the 43rd founding anniversary of the association.

South Manila Educational Consortium RDA Training-Workshop

Greetings! The South Manila Educational Consortium - Library Committee will be holding a seminar on the topic "RDA Training Workshop for Librarians". This professional activity will be held on February 27, 2015 (Friday), 8:00am to 5:00pm at The Learning Commons, De La Salle University, Taft Avenue, Manila.

The seminar aims to give an overview and identify changes from Anglo-American Cataloging Rules 2 (AACR2) to Resource Description and Access (RDA). It will also give participants a better understanding in the adoption of the RDA for the different types of library materials. This activity is especially intended for those who have not attended any RDA seminar, also, Library and Information Science students are welcome to this event.

A registration fee of P500.00 will be charged to each participant to cover meals (snacks and lunch) and certificates; kits will not be provided, however, the presentation will be sent online. Payments may be made by cash of check payable to De La Salle University.

Greetings from PLAI-STRLC!

Philippine Librarians Association, Inc.-Southern Tagalog Region Librarians Council cordially invites you to a “Forum on the Cataloguing Policy Statements and RDA Guidelines for Philippine Libraries on February 13, 2015 at LRC Annex, Sen. Jose Diokno Building, De La Salle Lipa, 1962 JP Laurel Highway, Lipa City.

The forum aims to provide an avenue to disseminate and discuss the salient points/features of the adopted Cataloguing Policy Statements and RDA Guidelines for Philippine Libraries. Likewise, it is an opportunity for the participants to clarify with our resource speaker Dr. Sonia M. Gementiza, Library Director of the De La Salle University-Dasmarinas during the open forum the changes in the new cataloguing policy in order to be fully cognizant of it prior to its implementation.

During the Opening program, the induction of the incoming CBOT officers of the PLAI-STRLC for 2015-2016 will be held with Br. Joaquin S. Martinez, FSC, De La Salle Lipa President and Chancellor as the inducting officer.

In view of this, we would like to invite you and your staff to attend the Forum and registration will starts at 8:00am. A minimal registration fee of PhP 500.00 will be collected to cover for the snacks & lunch, and other incidental expenses. Licensed librarians are also encouraged to pay / settle their PLAI annual dues of PhP 300.00.
