PRC-BFL Resolution no. 1 s.2016 - Standards for Special Libraries
The Board for Librarians (BFL) issued Resolution No. 1 s. 2016 entitled "Prescription, Issuance, and Promulgation of the Standards for Special Libraries in the Philippines" last 17 June 2016 and was published in the printed copy of the Official Gazette as of 19 September 2016 with date of effectivity of 4 October 2016 following the lapsed of 15 days after its complete publication.

PLAI-STRLC Summer Conference 2011

Please marked your calendar now for the PLAI-STRLC Summer Conference on 13-15 April 2011 at El Pueblo Rhizort, Mahal na Pangalan, Calapan, Oriental Mindoro. The conference theme is "Pursuing Excellence for Library Service : Accreditation and Standardization".
Objectives of the summer conference:
- to provide the significance of accreditation and standardization to educational institution to achieve excellence in library service;
- to promote its interoperability and deliver measurable benefits of library standards and accreditation;
- to provide an avenue to impart professional updates on current theme related issues and concerns affecting Philippine libraries and librarianship and;
- to develop feasibility plans to address these issues
Conference fee:
- Live-in : PhP 3,800.00 (accommodation in a 12 beds dormitory type room) breakfast/dinner in addition to seminar meals, kits, certificate)
- Live-out : PhP 3,100.00 (seminar meals, kits, and certificate)
- Accompanying person : PhP 2,800.00
UPGRADE of accommodation is on a "first come, first serve basis" only and upon payment of additional fee of PhP 700.00 per participant for the Twin sharing, and PhP 500.00 per participant to the Triple or Quadruple sharing.
A deposit of PhP 1,000.00 or 50% payment of the registration fee is required for the reservation. The deposit fee is deductible to the registration fee BUT not refundable in case of no show or without valid and justifiable cause.

Open Forum: Standards for School, Academic, Special and Public Libraries
Today I got an email from Professor Corazon Nera regarding a FREE open forum/public hearing on Library Standards Final Draft Matrix on October 10, 2007 at the National Library Auditorium, T.M. Kalaw, Manila. Below is the invite:

Attached herewith is the Standards Final Draft Matrix.
This will be presented to an FREE open forum/public
hearing on October 10, 2007 Wednesday at the National Library Auditorium at 9:00 am. Registration is
from 8:00 to 9:00. This is joint program of the Board
for Librarians, the Plai, Mendiola Consortium, PAARL
and the Intramuros Consortium.All the Committee chairs for the different types of
libraries will do the presentation -- School (Dr.

Lecture notes: CPE for Librarians
Last April 18, 2007, Prof Corazon M. Nera, Chair of the Board for Librarians (BFL) shared and mentioned to around 60 participants of the Forum entitled "Continuing Professional Education (CPE) for Librarians" the Guidelines and Procedures in the Implementation of Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Programs for Librarians (35 slides). This presentation was prepared by Ms. Elizabeth R. Peralejo, Member of the BFL and was discussed in length by Prof. Nera.
Another area that Prof Nera mentioned during the forum was about the review of existing library standards in the Philippine libraries (73 slides)which was prepared by another member of the BFL, Ms. Elnora L. Conti.
*Note: Permission to post the above two power point presentations was sought through email communication with all three (3) members of the BFL and was duly approved by the BFL Chair last April 20, 2007. If you can not view slides, click here for an alternative view
