PATLS Midyear National Forum

Dear Fellow Library Educators, Librarians, & Students,

PATLS invites you to attend the Midyear National Forum on Library Education and Practice on Friday, July 12, 2013 at 1:00 - 4:00 pm at SM Megatrade Hall Building B, Mandaluyong City. This occasion is in collaboration with ABAP's 17th Book Fair on July 8-12, 2013. The theme of the forum is "Embedded Librarianship : Library's Transition from Passive to Active, Reactive to Proactive, Staid to Lively, and Singular to Social". The speaker is Dr. Juan C. Buenrostro, Jr., Chief Librarian of Baliuag University & Professor of LIS at the University of the East.

Attend this very timely forum and discover the what, why, and the how of Embedded Librarianship in the 21st Century and how it differs from Blended Librarianship.

Registration fees (includes afternoon snacks & certificate of participation) are as follows:

PRC Outstanding Librarian for 2013 : Nora Fe V. Alajar

PLAI-STRLC wishes to congratulate Ms Nora Fe "Bing" V. Alajar of Davao City Public Library as this year recipient of the PRC Outstanding Librarian for 2013. Ms Alajar will receive her award together with the awardees from the other professions during the PRC Awards Nights on June 20, 2013 at the Manila Hotel.

The conferment of the PRC Outstanding award is a fitting testimonial & recognition of the sterling achievement and services rendered by a recently retired colleague who for 40 long years has served as City Librarian of the Davao City Public Library. Kudos Mam Bing!

International Archives Day 2013 poster

Through International Archives Day, we can:

• make the public aware of the importance of archives, underpinning their rights and their identity;
• Make the decision-makers aware of the advantages of good record-keeping for good governance and well-planned development;
• Make both public and private sectors aware of the need to preserve archives over the long term, and to facilitate access to them;
• Promote and make known unique, extraordinary and rare documents preserved in archives to a broad section of the public;
• Improve the perception that people have of archives and raise their profile globally.

Samantala sa website naman ng Official Gazette sa www.gov.ph/kalayaan/ ay meron interactive timeline naihanda noon isang taon na puede natin bisitahin upang sariwain ang mga mahahalagang pangyayari naganap para lubos natin maunawaan, matanto at mapayabong ang ipinaglabang kalayaan ng ating bayan.

Hinati sa mga sumusunod na diwa ang pangkalahatang tema ng pagdiriwang:

- Ang Wika Natin ay Wika ng Katarungan at Kapayapaan

- Ang Wika Natin ay Laban sa Katiwalian

- Ang Wika Natin ay Sandata Laban sa Kahirapan

- Ang Wika Natin ay Wika ng Mabilisan, Inklusibo, at Sustenidong Kaunlaran

- Ang Wika Natin ay Wika sa Pangangalaga ng Kapaligiran

Ang mga nabanggit na sub-tema ang papatnubay at magsilbing batayan ng lahat ng gawaing bubuuin at isasagawa sa isang buwang pagdiriwang. Hindi ito inayos sa pagkakasunod-sunod upang magkaroon ng kalayaan ang lahat sa pagpaplano ng programa.

Agricultural Librarians Association of the Philippines will celebrate its 41st anniversary on June 7, 2013 (Friday), 8-5 PM at the UPLB Main Library through a forum entitled "Harvesting Online Resources and Cloud Computing"

The forum fee is Php 500.00 to cover snacks, lunch and certificates.
